Andy Burnham has been on the frontline of British politics for over decade. He is a key political figure for Labour, and has held prominent positions within the shadow cabinet, and also worked tirelessly as the MP for Leigh since 2001. Having decided to step away from mainstream politics to focus on running for Mayor of Manchester, he asked us to develop an identity for his upcoming campaign.
Andy was keen for the ‘radical spirit’ of Greater Manchester to be felt within the campaign. We looked a lot at the graphic styles of Manchester’s music revolution of 1980’s and 90’s.
The affinity Andy and the Greater Manchester community share for that cultural revolution inspired us to incorporate non-conformist graphic elements associated with that era into our identity.
The finished campaign strives to feel familiar and hold provenance with people, whilst also feeling forward thinking, unexpected and different to conventional political campaigns.
