BBC Cardiff Singer of the World is one of the world’s leading competitions for opera singers in the early stages of their career. We were commissioned by the BBC to develop a new visual identity for the competition that would appeal to both new and existing audiences and challenge people’s perceptions towards opera.
Our core idea centered on sound waves, their patterns and movement, which links directly to the core nature of the competition i.e. voice and sound.
We created a dynamic graphic device which represents sound waves. This became a flexible and fluid logo mark as well brand property, which we used throughout the deliverables. It can be seen on a range of items from outdoor advertising, TV Stings, Social Media imagery and print.
We formalized the brand in a set of brand guidelines which are now being used by the BBC and BBC National Orchestra.
